  • Director, Roaming

    Brief Description on the Overall Purpose of this Job

    1. To develop strategies for the continued growth and sustainability of the international roaming business including wholesale and retail business transformation, and to continuously monitor Bridge Alliance members’ performance and market development to determine if strategies need to be adjusted or new strategies should be introduced.
    2. To create, propose and achieve the launch of differentiating/disruptive products, tariffs, solutions and initiatives able to delight customers, differentiate from competitors and help Bridge Member Operators (BMOs) grow their roaming business.
    3. To design and drive adoption of appropriate cost framework to support retail propositions and maintain the sustainability of high traffic internalisation and revenue.
    4. To craft commercial strategies and tactics to optimise wholesale roaming relationships with external roaming operator partners, OEM MVNOs, merchants etc.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Develop disruptive retail propositions/business models based on segmented approach (enterprise, consumer and silent roamers) to drive business growth.
    2. Propose enhancements to existing offerings to enrich customer experience and maximise retail revenue.
    3. Lead, create and manage wholesale and commercial models to support roaming in various new businesses such as OTT, MVNOs, sponsored data, sponsored roaming, etc.
    4. Lead in planning and organising Bridge Alliance’s roaming strategies and initiatives in alignment with BMOs’ business priorities.
    5. Provide transformation strategy to the Bridge Alliance members that cater for future roaming business.
    6. Achieve wholesale rate reduction among Bridge Alliance members to support retail initiatives.
    7. Manage negotiations with commercial wholesale roaming deals with external roaming partners/OEM MVNOs.
    8. Stay appropriately networked and keep abreast of trends, news, competitive landscape, make worldwide and BMO benchmarks on design criteria and capabilities.
    9. Provide roaming support and consultancy to BMOs regarding support systems (DCH, FCH, SCCP, GRQ), provide advisory on business optimisation/recommendations for BMOs.
    10. Work with vendors and partners to provide solutions that provide competitive advantages for Bridge Alliance members.
    11. Manage effective partnerships with both existing BMOs and Commercial Partners (CPs) and build relationships with other prospective business partners where appropriate.
    12. Lead and drive roaming workshops with participation from BMOs to get buy-in for implementation of roaming initiatives across alliance footprints.
    13. Devise strategy to build up Bridge Value Proposition to existing BMOs as well as to attract new Members and Strategic Alliance Partners.
    14. Responsible to build a strong team of 4-5 people to drive the above initiatives and responsibilities.

    Formal Qualifications

    • Degree in Engineering, Marketing and/or International Business (MBA is an added advantage)

    Knowledge

    • Broad knowledge of telecommunications products and services development and marketing
    • Knowledge in roaming products and services
    • Knowledge in pricing and marketing from a services industry

    Relevant Work Experience

    • At least 10 years of working experience from the telecommunications industry
    • At least 5 years of product management experience
    • At least 5 years in leadership and people management role
    • At least 3-5 years working experience in Asia

    Computer Literacy Skills

    • Microsoft Office (particularly on Excel and PowerPoint)

    Soft Skills (including behavioral and attitudes)

    • Good networking skills in a culturally diverse business environment
    • Excellent negotiation skills
    • Able to communicate confidently and effectively to Board level and workgroup level
    • Sensitive to cultural differences

  • Manager, Product and Marketing

    Roles & Responsibilities

    Develop and manage innovative products, services and solutions, help to drive data monetisation for member operators and support domestic/roaming business via alliance-wide initiatives and projects.

    • Collaborate with member operators by understanding their commercial plans and use that understanding to help continuously improve the products/solutions
    • Identify and develop new business and revenue opportunities in terms of partnerships, use of technology, product and business development and convert these opportunities into strategic action plans
    • Co-design and develop new domestic/roaming products that drive data adoption, usage and top lines for member operators (E.g. Sponsored data, co-marketing activities with different brands, global MVNOs, multiple forms of partnership models with strategic OTT players and travel related companies)
    • Work proactively with member operators to share best practices and to support the execution of their road maps in strategic projects and commercial strategies
    • Cultivate relationships with potential partners and facilitate joint product/services development and customisation of 3rd party solutions across member operators
    • Constantly assess the competitive environment in the region, mainly by the global operators and recommend pre-emptive measures against threats to member operators

    Formal Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Telecommunications/Marketing.

    Relevant Work Experience

    • 5+ year experience as a Product Development or Marketing Manager in the telecommunication or digital services industry
    • Experience in mobile digital services, mobile data and adjacent spaces with a good working knowledge and understanding of the evolving mobile ecosystem
    • Experience in working with a recognised consultancy firm on telco projects is a definite plus

    Knowledge

    • Broad knowledge of telco/mobile digital products, service development and marketing
    • Experience in telco business or Mobile Network Operator

    Soft Skills (including behavioral and attitudes)

    • Ability to develop and show leadership and be able to foster relationships with culturally and organisationally diverse stakeholders
    • Proven ability to build strong relationships with internal/external customers and suppliers, strong personal initiative and good judgement
    • Ability to think strategically and with an out-of-the-box problem solving mind set
    • Success in managing multiple complex projects concurrently and delivering results under tight timelines
    • Excellent team player with high social competences and ability to work proactively with minimal supervision.
    • Possesses entrepreneurial thinking and attitude towards work
    • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills including presentation and negotiation skills. Ability to deliver insightful recommendations in a persuasive and thoughtful manner
