Carlos Oliver Mosquera
Kearney specialist partner Mr Carlos Oliver Mosquera labels himself “a different breed of consultant” because while many consultants ultimately move to industry, he spent 17 years in the telecommunications industry (including the sector’s foremost R&D institution, Bell Labs) before deciding to broaden his career options by earning his MBA. He made his foray into management consulting with Kearney in Dubai in 2015 and was named a specialist partner (a role that brings leading-edge capabilities to Kearney clients through their unparalleled subject matter expertise and skills) in 2022.
“I like being with Kearney because while I was always client-oriented while working in technical roles in the telecommunications industry, I didn’t have access to executive-level decision-makers,” Carlos recalls. “Now that I do, I have the opportunity to reshape the technology landscape by working with leaders at telecommunications firms and their vendors, helping to shape the networks of the future and how these companies will run their businesses here in Southeast Asia.”
Carlos enjoys “super-leading-edge, cool, and nerdy engagements” involving topics such as 5G networks, quantum computing, and artificial intelligence. On one of his all-time favorite projects, he helped to calculate the total combined computing power of every mobile telecommunications network in the world. He leads Kearney’s Technology Centre of Excellence, which provides advisory services to clients worldwide through a unique combination of the strategic impact of management consulting and the firm’s deep understanding of information and communication technologies.
Over the course of his career, Carlos has journeyed from Spain to the United States, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, and Singapore and worked with clients in more than 40 different countries. As a child he dreamt of following in the footsteps of several of his relatives and becoming an architect, especially because he was skilled in art as well as math and science. He changed his mind after falling in love with computer programming, but after realizing that he missed the physics aspect of things he ultimately decided to study telecommunications engineering because it combined physics with math.
Carlos and his wife have one child, a son who shares many of Carlos’s interests, including art, history, math, and science. The family likes to travel to historic and cultural sites. Carlos also enjoys photography, reading about science, and computers.
